Intermural Hockey safety

so i just recently joined an inturmaural team for hockey at sru. and i am really excited for it to begin. Until i found out that you don't need to wear a helmet, which kind of scares me alittle. I think i will probably wear my shin pads so that i do not get whacked with a hockey stick in the shins, which by the way really hurts. Well i hope it is as fun as eveyone makes it out to be.

Penguin Talk

So far the Pittsburgh Penguins are still doing fantastic and are not letting my hopes down. The y play again on thursday and hope to continue on this fabulous win streak. The fans are finally creating a need to go watch the games again now that they are firmly in the playoff race. I may actually spend some money and find tickets for the first round of playoffs

Cigarette awareness

Did you know that you have 60 thousand miles of blood vessels in your body? did you know that every time you take a puff of a cigarette it makes all 60 thousand miles of those vessels contract which shoots your blood pressure thourgh the roof? These contractions are also the most major cause or aging because the vessels get worn out from every puff of smoke. Cigarette smoke is also the fastest drug to affect the body, pills that you may take for a headache usually take a half hour to be affective where as the smoke can get to your brain in under SEVEN seconds! The amonia in the smoke allows this to happen because the amonia finds the quickest way to the brain allowing the smoke to trail along with it. So the next time you light one up just think about how much damage you are truely doing to yourself.

over weight crisis

People now are starting to realize that they are over weight and are not hiding it behind themselves. A decade ago the rate of obese people was just a small 4% and only 10 years later it has climbed to over 34%. this is a stagering change and is really begining to scary the masses. This is explained by the new fast food resturants popping up on every corner every day with food that should probably give you a heart attack on the first bite, but we ignore this because the chemicals they add to the food release the feel good chemical in our brains that make us think that this food is actuallt good. I think if everyone only ate fast food once or twice a week this would put a big dent in the problem.

Pittsburgh Penguins did what?

With last nights victory they have added to an already impressive win streak, which keeps growing by the game. With an already eight game streak the Penguins look to keep pilling on the wins. Still with a tough road ahead and the race for playoff spots still very tight it is time to get serious. The Penguins must stay on the fast track and beat who they must and take everything else into overtime to make sure they get atleast one point. However last night the spotlight wasn't all on the Penguins impressive victory, but more on the fact that New Jersey Devil goaltender Martain Broduere pardon the spelling has made history by being the most winningest goalie of all time passing the old Colorado Avalanche goalie whos name escapes me by winning his 500th game!

SRU's amazing wednesday weather!

So i am totally excited that it is only one week way from spring, the weather is already looking up. Today it registered in my car that it was 56 degrees. If it were the middle of summer that may seem cold to us, but not it feels like a miracle! Finaaly we can all get outside and really begin to enjoy the Slippery Rock campus and all its grassy lawns that take up valuable commuter parking. I for one will be outside probably playing a game of catch or football and if you see me you are welcome to join.

Drink safely this St. Pattys Day

Being that this wonderful St. Patty's day is upon us i would just like to make sure that everyone enjoys this holiday safely. Every one that is over 21 should watch the amount of alcohol they intake because it can be very harmful to your bodys organs such as the liver and the brain. Most of you will not be drinking moderatly and only having on or two but more likely to be binge drinking, so i do hope that everyone takes care and has a beer or two for me till i can get off work...

why is it so cold at sru?

Why is it so cold at sru all the time? It needs to be summer already because it would make getting to class so much more pleasent. I also wouldnt have to scrap the ice and snow off my windshield every morning. This makes me late for class mainly because i have to let my car warm up so that i can see through the foggy windows. I am ready for summer and it can't come soon enough!
